Missouri Task Force 1 diverted to Alabama; line workers sent to Gulf

Missouri Task Force 1 has been diverted to Montgomery, Alabama, ahead of Hurricane Michael’s landfall.

Meanwhile electric line workers from central Missouri are also being sent to help with hurricane response.

The Boone County Fire Protection District posted on Facebook Tuesday night that it was diverted to Maxwell Air Force Base while en route to Florida. They remained at the air base Wednesday afternoon.

The 16-member swiftwater rescue team left Columbia Tuesday morning and arrived in Montgomery around 9:00 Tuesday night, according to the post.

Officials said the team will stage in Montgomery until it is assigned a mission or gets orders to move to another area.

Missouri’s municipal utilities sent 47 line workers to the area late Tuesday, including six Columbia Water and Light workers, said Kerry Cordray with the Missouri Public Utility Alliance.

Hurricane Michael made landfall Wednesday afternoon.
