Two suffer serious injuries in Route WW crash
UPDATE 10:40 A.M.: Two people suffered serious injuries in a crash that temporarily shut down Route WW near Columbia on Monday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Angela McHenry, 24, and Logan Wood, 19, both of Columbia, were hurt when McHenry lost control of her vehicle going over a small hill crest, crossed the center line and hit the front driver’s side of Wood’s vehicle.
McHenry was not wearing a seat belt, the report said. The crash happened near Stone Mountain Parkway at 5:45 a.m.
UPDATE 9:03 A.M.: The road was reopened shortly after 8 a.m.
ORIGINAL: Emergency crews were called to Route WW just before 6 a.m. Monday for an injury crash near Elk Park Drive.
Responders promptly closed a section of the road to perform rescue operations. One of the drivers had to be cut out of the vehicle, but the other was able to escape through the passenger’s side door.
Boone County Fire authorities told ABC 17 News that two cars were involved in the head-on crash, and both drivers were transported to the hospital with moderate to serious injuries. No other passengers were in either vehicle.
