Authorities seen taking two into custody in Boone County
UPDATE 7:30 a.m.: A Missouri State Highway Patrol sergeant confirmed a man was arrested after leading authorities on a chase in Boone County on Friday night.
Sgt. Scott White said that a trooper tried to pull over a truck around 11:20 p.m. on Highway 63. The truck was pulling a trailer that had no lights.
Troopers said the truck accelerated and pulled to the shoulder twice before continuing south on Highway 63.
The trailer came loose near the Broadway exit, but the truck continued driving.
Troopers deployed spike strips near the Stadium Boulevard exit, and the truck ran over them.
The truck stopped shortly afterward near Meadow Larke Lane, and the driver took off running, but was arrested after a short foot chase.
The driver, Douglas Buffer, 37, of Imperial, was arrested on charges of several felony warrants and resisting arrest.
ORIGINAL: Authorities were seen taking two people into custody after a possible chase ended late Friday night in Boone County.
Columbia police and Boone County deputies were at the scene assisting Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers.
Deputies confirmed troopers initiated the chase.
ABC 17 News heard reports of a vehicle chase starting near Brown Station Road on Highway 63 shortly after 11 p.m.
Crews got video toward the end of the chase, which was a few miles down Highway 63 near Ponderosa Street.
Crews saw a man jump out of the truck that several deputies were following, and saw him run toward some brush. Authorities then followed the man on foot with a K-9 unit and took him into custody.
A woman was also seen being taken into custody.
ABC 17 News also heard reports that, before the chase ended, law enforcement officers deployed spike strips on the highway. The rubber on the truck’s tires were completely gone.
ABC 17 News is working to confirm exactly what led up to the two people being taken into custody. This story will update once more information is available.
