Corrections: No lockdown at Tipton prison
The Missouri Department of Corrections on Thursday sought to dispel reports of a lockdown at Tipton Correctional Center.
The department said in a news release that it has received false reports of a lockdown at Tipton. “These reports are inaccurate,” the department said in the release.
Two officers were assaulted Thursday morning and suffered minor injuries in separate incidents, according to the release. Each incident involved one officer and one inmate, the department said, and the prison was not on lockdown. No other injuries or damage were reported, according to the release.
Weekend visits will continue as scheduled, the release said.
Spokespeople for the department did not respond to ABC 17’s requests for more information.
