Warm start to October, storm chances increase

TONIGHT: Temperatures won’t drop far tonight as lows remain in the the mid 60s by morning. Partly cloudy skies stick around with muggy conditions by morning with south winds up to 8 mph.

TUESDAY: Expect a warm, dry day with high temperatures reaching the mid 80s under partly sunny skies. Southwest winds will increase up to 12 mph in the afternoon.

EXTENDED: Temperatures will remain above averages through the first half of the work week, with Wednesday being the warmest day with highs in the upper 80s to near 90. The humidity will make it feel like the lower 90s in the afternoon. After this return to summer like weather, the second half of the week and into the weekend will bring the return of an unsettled weather pattern. A series of cold fronts will trail through the area into the weekend that will bring us rain chances and cooler temperatures. This is as the country will find itself split in half by seasons, with autumn dominating out west and stifling heat and humidity holding strong along the east coast. This early out it’s hard to pin down exact rainfall totals, but by this time next week we can expect heavy rainfall accumulation across the middle of the country. Mid-Missouri will see on and off storm chances from Wednesday night through early next week. Make sure you keep up to date with the latest forecast on-air and online with ABC 17 News.
