Police: Stolen vehicle crashes into Hardee’s

A Chillicothe man is accused of crashing a stolen car into a Macon fast-food restaurant.

Macon police arrested the man Monday morning after the vehicle he was driving crashed into Hardee’s, the Macon Police Department said in a news release. Police were sent to the call a little after 7 a.m.

Officers learned the vehicle had been stolen from the Chillicothe area and arrested the driver, according to the release. The 37-year-old man was issued a summons for careless and imprudent driving at the Macon Police Department then turned over to the Chillicothe Police Department for possible vehicle theft charges.

The Hardee’s sustained “substantial damage” to the south wall of the dining area when the vehicle entered the structure before coming to a complete stop, Macon police Chief Adam Dawdy said in the release. No one was injured.

Macon police didn’t not release the man’s name.
