Police confirm shots fired on Springdale Drive

Police responded to a shots fired call Wednesday morning in the 2400 block of Springdale Drive.

According to Columbia Police Department Officers on scene, it was a domestic situation that led to the shots fired. Police said Brandie M. Sorm, 32, of Columbia discharged a weapon at her partner and then left the area with one of her children. The couple has other children in Columbia Public Schools, which is why some schools were placed on lockdown.

Police later found Sorm’s vehicle on Paris Road and initiated a traffic stop. She was taken into custody, and her child was unharmed. Sorm was arrested for first-degree assault, armed criminal action, first-degree child endangerment and property damage.

Cedar Ridge Elementary School was on a full lockdown for about 10 minutes that was lifted shortly after, according to Columbia Public Schools Spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark.

Blue Ride Elementary School, Lange Middle School, Hickman High School, Center for Early Learning North and Oakland were on modified lockdowns.
