Coolest night since late April expected across Mid-Missouri

WEDNESDAY: It’s a gorgeous and cool afternoon across Mid-Missouri. Temperatures are slowly climbing into the middle 60s under a layer of very high clouds. The cool conditions stay with us through the day, as a cool northwesterly breeze up to 12 mph pulls in cooler and drier air into the region.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy skies are possible through the night south of Interstate 70, as a weak disturbance tracks out of Oklahoma/Texas. Despite any clouds that do remain, it will be the coolest night we’ve seen since April 30. Overnight lows are expected to bottom out in the mid to upper 40s, with light winds out of the northeast. Expect clear skies to return by daybreak.

EXTENDED: The fall weather continues, as we see temperatures climb to seasonal levels for your Thursday under sunny skies. Another cold front is forecast to move through the area Friday, which will bring the return to cooler conditions as we head into the weekend. For now the frontal passage looks to be fairly dry, as it will be starved of moisture. However, a few spot showers are possible across extreme northwestern parts of Mid-Missouri. Heading into the weekend, another cool down is expected on the back side of the front. Highs Saturday will only climb into the mid to upper 60s, with spot showers along and north of I-70. By Sunday and on into next week, surface ridging builds back into Mid-Missouri, which means the return of afternoon highs in the 80s with spot storm chances.
