New information revealed on four month old Columbiadeath investigation

Residents that live near the 700 block of West Texas Avenue are still wondering what caused the deaths of two individuals that were found in a home there over four months ago.

“As a member of this neighborhood and this community, we need answers,” said nearby resident Michael Wolfe. “We need to know why things happen.”

Columbia Police found the bodies of Tia Ford and Marvin Clay in the home around noon in May, and have not released any information on the cause or circumstances behind the deaths.

A search warrant issued by Boone County Circuit Court Judge Jeff Harris, which was obtained by ABC 17 News, reveals what officers found when they first entered the home.

Officers found items that appeared to be controlled substances, as well as “a foamy substance around the female’s mouth which is consistent with drug use,” CPD Detective Alan Mitchell wrote in the warrant.

The warrant also said Clay was a resident of the home.

CPD spokesperson Steven Sapp said in an email Monday that the investigation is “open and very active,” and that no more information is being released at this time.

Wolfe said people who live in the area have lost a sense of safety since the incident.

“I think everybody in this neighborhood would appreciate getting information and knowing what’s going on,” Wolfe said. “I mean we live here.”
