Cold front to bring isolated strong storms and cooler weather

TUESDAY: A warm afternoon is underway across Mid-Missouri, as clouds are beginning to break up with temperatures climbing into the upper 70s. We could see some locations top out in the lower 80s through the day ahead of a cold front that will bring a chance for scattered showers and storms into the evening. Some storms could be on the strong side, with the better chance into northeastern parts of Mid-Missouri. Our greatest threats will be for damaging winds or large hail.

TONIGHT: Storms will persist through the evening hours as they continue to track to the southeast, moving out of the area after midnight. Skies will clear quickly by morning as temperatures drop into the low 50s. Winds will be shifted out of the northwest.

EXTENDED: Once this front exits Mid-Missouri, we’ll be back into the upper 60s Wednesday afternoon as a Canadian high pressure builds into the region. Wednesday night will be the coolest night since April 30, with lows dipping into the upper 40s. The cool down will be brief, as we climb back into the mid to upper 70s as we close out this week as winds shift to the south. Heading into the weekend, another cold front will drop in from the north but will likely stall out somewhere north of I-70 Saturday. This will give us a chance of t-storms both Saturday and Sunday as it stalls then lifts back to the north Sunday into Monay. At this time, the best chance of storms this upcoming weekend will be north of I-70. High temperatures will reach the mid 70s Saturday to upper 70s Sunday.
