Mistakes cost Mizzou as Georgia beats the Tigers in fifth straight year
The last top-10 victory for the Mizzou football team came in 2013 against Georgia. The wait continues for Mizzou’s next top-10 win after Georgia beat Mizzou for the fifth straight year, 43-29.
After the loss, Mizzou falls to 3-1 (0-1 SEC).
The Tigers lost the turnover margin for the first time of the season after three first-half turnovers.
Drew Lock’s streak of 13 straight games with a touchdown pass came to an end. He went 23-47 passing for 221 yards with one interception and one rushing touchdown.
The game started with a bang for the Tigers as Christian Holmes intercepted Jake Fromm near midfield giving the Tigers the ball and a chance to be the first to put points on the board.
After a first down, Drew Lock found Albert Okwuegbunam across the middle near the first-down marker. Then Georgia stripped Okwuebunam and Tyson Campbell took the fumble recovery 68 yards to the end zone to make it 7-0 Bulldogs.
The Tigers answered back with a long drive, but it ended in disappointment after Tucker McCann missed a 41-yard field goal to keep Georgia in front 7-0 with 7:04 left in the first quarter. However, upon review during the game, the kick appeared to be good and go just above the right pole.

Lock and Mizzou’s offense got going on the following drive. The Tigers went 70 yards on 11 plays capped off by a six-yard touchdown run by Damarea Crockett. With 7:50 left in the third quarter, Mizzou trailed 27-14.
On the next drive for the Bulldogs, Jeremiah Holloman caught a 61-yard pass for a touchdown. However, it appeared he dropped the ball before crossing the goal line, and Mizzou recovered the ball. However, the officials ruled the call on the field stood, and the Bulldogs led 33-14.

Georgia wasted little time in extending its lead as Fromm launched it deep to a wide open Mecole Hardman for a 54-yard touchdown making it 40-22 early in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers refused to go away quietly as Lock capped off a 75-yard drive with a QB keeper into the end zone. The touchdown cut the deficit to 40-29 Georgia with just more than 11 minutes left in regulation.
On the next drive for the Bulldogs, Mizzou’s defense forced Georgia to kick a field goal. Walter Palmore got through the line and blocked the kick giving the Tigers the ball back with just more than six minutes to go.
On fourth down, Lock’s pass to Crockett fell just one yard short of the first-down marker giving Georgia the ball back. The Bulldogs then cruised to victory.
