Providence Bowl Preview: Rock Bridge hosts Hickman

The 2018 edition of the Providence Bowl is Friday night at 7 p.m. The Rock Bridge football team (2-2) will host Hickman (1-3) at Sells Field.

The Bruins are coming off a 28-7 loss to Lee’s Summit West. Meanwhile, the Kewpies are coming off a 47-26 loss to Smith-Cotton.

Hickman started the season strong under first year head coach Cedric Alvis. The Kewpies beat Pattonville on a game-winning field goal to start the season 1-0. However, Hickman has lost its last three games.

Rock Bridge also began the season with a big road victory. The Bruins defeated Rockhurst for the second straight season, 33-21. Head coach Van Vanatta and the Bruins have been up and down since then.

The Bruins are led by running back Nate Peat and playmaker Martez Manuel. Meanwhile, the Kewpies are led by running back Christian Davis and quarterback Jevean Brown.

Rock Bridge has won the last five Providence Bowl matchups. Last year, the Bruins defeated Hickman 41-9 at Alumni Stadium.

You can watch the Providence Bowl live on KZOU (17.3) at 7 p.m. on Friday and on the ABC 17 website.

* On a separate note: Rock Bridge’s Nate Peat said he will announce his college decision at the game.
