One more 90 degree day in the 7-day forecast, and potentially the last of the season

THURSDAY: Another warm day will be in store for Mid-Missouri, with the afternoon high just a few degrees cooler than the record of 98. With dew points remaining on the humid side, heat indices tomorrow will once again top out near 100 degrees as the late season heat continues. It will also be breezy with winds out of the south up to 16 mph and gusting as high as 25 through the day. This comes as a cold front slowly begins to track into the region which will spark a few evening showers and storms. Any storms we do see will arrive after 2 PM and stick around into the evening hours.

TONIGHT: The cold front will slowly track through mid-Missouri tonight brining scattered showers and t-storms after 10 PM. A few storms could be on the strong side, but the severe threat is mainly for areas north of our area. Once storms arrive they will lose stamina, but still bringing the potential for heavy downpours and lightning through the night. Most of the activity will push towards our southern counties by the morning with temperatures dropping into the upper 60s.

EXTENDED: As the cold front moves south Friday, the rain chance will shift to areas south of HWY-50 by evening. Much cooler air moves in behind the front and temperatures will drop into the upper 70s Friday to the lower 70s Saturday for highs. At this time, the front is expected to head farther south into southern Missouri Saturday, with slim rain chances still possible in the Ozarks while areas north of HWY 50 are more likely to stay dry. This depends where the front ends up but at this time it looks like it will move through faster and much of Mid-Missouri will end up drier for the weekend. Sunday will be dry and cool with spot storm chances entering back into the forecast by Monday. A stronger cold front will move into mid-Missouri by the middle of next week, potentially bringing highs in the 60s with lows in the 40s, along with another shot of rain.
