Man arrested after allegedly strangling woman
A man was taken to Boone County Jail after he allegedly assaulted a woman and stole from her.
According to a probable cause statement, Channing Williams was traveling with the victim from Hallsville to Columbia when Williams pulled over the vehicle near Paris Road. The victim told police Williams wrapped a cord around her neck and began whipping her legs with “an unknown object.”
The victim also told police another acquaintance, Martinez Jackson, pulled out a black handgun and struck her in the head. Jackson then allegedly stole $230 and a cell phone and threatened to harm her family if she called police, according to court documents.
Williams was taken into custody early Wednesday morning.
