UPDATE: Lincoln University student dies in I-70 crash

Lincoln University student Ariel Perkins died after a crash on Interstate 70 near Kingdom City Sunday night.

Perkins, who was from Washington Park, Illinois, transferred to LU in fall 2018, according to LU officials.

The university will provide grief counseling in the Thompkins Health Center, and students can also contact counseling services at 573-681-5164 or 573-681-5970.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Perkins used an emergency turn-around on the interstate to get from the westbound lanes to the eastbound lanes of the interstate and was hit by another vehicle. Both vehicles went off the road.

Emergency crews took the driver of the other vehicle to the hospital.
