No threat at Battle High School

Columbia Public Schools administrators have sent a letter to parents of Battle High School students assuring them there was no threat of a shooting at the school.

CPS spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark said the issue was a rumor related to a school shooting threat at Brunswick High School in Georgia. In addition to the letter, Battle officials asked students to stop spreading the information on social media, Baumstark said. The Georgia threat happened Monday, Battle High School Principal Kim Presko wrote in the letter to parents.

“We appreciate the students who came forward and reported the information they saw via social media so that it could be investigated,” Presko wrote. “We have asked students to stop sharing the post in order to not further perpetuate the rumor.”
