Greene County deputy killed after patrol car gets swept away from flash flooding

Greene County Sheriff’s Office confirms a deputy is dead after his patrol car washed off the road Friday night.

Deputy Aaron Paul Roberts was clearing a 911 call in the 9500 block of Farm Road 2, in the Fair Grove area. Moments later he radioed that his car was washed off the road.

Multiple agencies assisted in the rescue efforts but Deputy Roberts was found near his patrol car deceased.

Nearly five inches of rain fell on eastern Green County Friday night.

The Green County Sheriff’s Office posted on their Facebook page early Saturday morning, “We ask that you please keep Deputy Roberts’ family in your prayers during this difficult time.”
