Suspect arrested after chase in Audrain County

Mexico public safety officers tried to pull over a car in the 800 block of W Breckenridge Tuesday night.

As officers approached the vehicle, they say the driver, 27-year-old Dana Ware Jr., sped away from the stop.

Ware drove about three blocks before police say he stopped the car and fled on foot.

“Additional officers, who had arrived in the area, located the driver about five blocks from where he left the vehicle,” said Maj. Brice Mesko.

Ware was arrested and found to have a gun on him, according to police.

The 27-year-old man was taken to the Audrain County Jail on an outstanding warrant for possession of stolen property.

Ware was also charged with driving with a revoked license, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Police said there were no injuries in the chase or arrest.
