University of Missouri police arrest sex offense suspect

UPDATE: A man suspected of fondling a woman at an outdoor concert on the University of Missouri campus was arrested late Sunday, the University of Missouri Police Department said in a news release.

Police arrested Alton Conner, 53, at about 10:30 p.m., saying in the release that “the public’s cooperation played a key role in Conner’s arrest.”

Conner was booked in the Boone County Jail and released after posting a $500 bond. Police said additional information is not available because of the ongoing investigation.

UPDATE: MUPD has released a photo of the suspect.

ORIGINAL STORY: The University of Missouri police department is investigating a reported “fondling” that happened at about 10:15 p.m. Saturday during a concert on the school’s campus.

The woman reported she and her friends were standing near the stage when a man came up behind her and rubbed against her in a sexual manner.

The victim said she left the concert immediately and never spoke to the suspect.

The man is a light-skinned black male in his 50s with short, gray hair. He is 6 feet tall and was wearing a light purple shirt and black shorts.
