Two in custody for Eastland Circle shooting
UPDATE 3:45 p.m.: The Columbia Police Department arrested two people Monday afternoon after one person was shot in the shoulder on Eastland Circle.
After they initially responded to the call at around 1:30 p.m., police found the gunshot victim as well as bullet holes on the interior and exterior of the home. Officers were able to detain two men and one woman for questioning in the area of Broadway and Trimble Road. The two men were arrested, and the woman is still being questioned.
The gunshot victim had non-life threatening wounds and refused medical treatment.
But this is not the first time police have responded to a shooing at this address. They responded to a shooting four months ago at the same residence. In that instance, no one was shot, but there was a bullet hole in the front window. Lieutenant Eric Hughes with the Columbia Police Department said it’s hard to tell which bullet holes were from Monday’s incident and which holes were from a previous incident.
“There are some shots into the dwelling, but we are still looking to see which shots are from today or which shots might be from a previous incident,” Hughes said.
Residents in the area are also concerned about the crime in that particular home.
“The things I have seen in the last two years, the place has really gone downhill. It used to be immaculate,” said one person who did not want to be named for safety reasons.

ORIGINAL: At least five police units, firefighters and ambulance crews responded to reports of a possible shooting Monday afternoon.
Emergency responders were first called around 1 p.m. to Eastland Circle, at the east end of the Business Loop near the connector in Columbia. Medics appeared to be treating one person at the scene.
