Firefighters determine cause of south Columbia business fire

Firefighters determined an electrical issue was to blame for a Sunday afternoon fire at a south Columbia business.

The Columbia Fire Department responded to a fire in the 100 block of Corporate Lake Drive around 12:40 p.m.

Firefighters saw flames inside the door of one of the business suites. They were able to put out the flames in about five minutes, according to CFD.

No one was inside the business and no one was hurt.

Fire officials determined the blaze started on a display shelf and caused about $10,000 worth of damage.
