Rain Sunday night, isolated severe threat
A warm front will lift northeast through Mid-Missouri late Sunday afternoon and through the evening hours, sending a line of showers and t-storms through the region. A few showers are possible anytime after 3 PM but the main line of rain and t-storms will move through from 6 to midnight. The Storm Prediction Center has put areas south of I-70 in a Marginal Severe Threat for the possibility of isolated storms with damaging wind the main threat. There is a very low chance of a tornado, primarily in our southwestern counties as storms arrive after 6 PM.
The rain and storms will spread to the northeast through the evening, tapering off to showers and ending by early morning Monday, leaving us with a dry morning commute. As the surface low tracks across northern Missouri Tuesday, a trailing cold front will swing across Mid-Missouri giving us a chance of showers and t-storms. These will end Monday evening with drier, cooler air to follow.
Rainfall amounts for both days are expected to come in at .25″ to .75″ in most areas with slightly higher amounts to an inch possible.
