Rain chances to close the weekend
TODAY: Cloud cover will be increasing as we head throughout the later morning hours. Winds out of the southeast will help us warm up into the mid to upper 80s even with filtered sunshine. We could see a stray shower or two toward our western counties this afternoon, but the better chance will arrive this evening.
TONIGHT: Our next weather system finally moves into the area tonight. Showers and some embedded thunderstorms will rotate into Mid-Missouri after 6 pm and into the overnight hours. Areas south of I-70 are in a Marginal Severe Threat for the potential of isolated storms with damaging wind. There is a very low tornado threat mainly in our southwestern counties of Benton, Pettis and Camden as storms arrive in early evening. Models continue to hint at much of the region getting between 0.25″ – 0.75″ of rainfall.
EXTENDED: We could have some showers still lingering into the morning commute hours on Monday, but most of the rain will have moved out of the area by then. We’re tracking the possibility of some redevelopment into the afternoon hours with the better chance east of HWY 63. This system will push off toward the Great Lakes region into Tuesday, leaving pleasant weather in its wake. Temperatures Tuesday through Thursday will only top out in the low 80s with noticeably lower humidity. We’ll see more seasonal temperatures by next weekend and the return of rain chances.
