Columbia police respond to gas station after victim reports road rage incident

Multiple Columbia Police officers and Boone County deputies responded to a gas station early Sunday morning after a road rage incident was reported.

A lieutenant at the scene said the victim of an alleged road rage incident showed up at the police station around 4 a.m. Shortly after, police were called to a gas station at Providence Road and Locust Street where the alleged suspects were located.

The lieutenant said officers at the gas station tried to detain several people, but many of them weren’t cooperating and got into an altercation with officers.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing officers and the suspects using force against each other.

ABC 17 News crews saw a woman being taken away in an ambulance. The extent of the woman’s injuries was unclear.

The lieutenant said several suspects involved in the altercation or weren’t cooperating were taken into custody.

Police cleared the area just before 5 a.m.
