Boone County murder charge filed against man accused in southwest Missouri shootout
A Boonville man has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the June shooting death of a Boone County woman.
Jason Anderson, 34, was arrested June 15 after a shootout with Christian County law enforcement. Christian County authorities said he had 53 guns and 5,000 rounds of ammunition when they arrested him.
Boone County deputies on June 15 searched a Hatton Chapel Road residence in Boone County following up on a report of firearms and ammunition theft, according to a probable cause statement filed in Anderson’s murder case. During the search, they found Elise’ise Q. McNeal’s, 34, body inside the residence.
Witnesses said Anderson and McNeal were in a relationship and lived at the same residence, the probable cause statement says. An autopsy showed McNeal suffered facial injuries, a gunshot wound to the torso and a fatal gunshot wound to the head, Boone County Sheriff’s Department Det. Matt Vessar wrote in the statement.
Vessar wrote that missing firearms from the Hatton Chapel Road residence matched the firearms in Anderson possession at the time of the shootout in Christian County and one of them matched the caliber of weapon used to kill McNeal.
Investigators also found dried blood that matched McNeal’s DNA on Anderson’s shoes, the statement says.
Anderson is currently being held in the Christian County Jail without bond on unrelated charges.
Law enforcement said he will be brought to the Boone County Jail on a $2 million bond at a later time. Anderson did not have a lawyer listed in online court records.
