Missouri Farm Bureau chooses to endorse Hawley for U.S. Senate

The Missouri Farm Bureau has endorsed Attorney General Josh Hawley for the U.S. Senate.

Today, both Hawley and U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill spoke in front of the bureau.

After hearing from both candidate, 93 percent of the Farm Bureau chose to stand by Hawley.

Missouri Farm Bureau President, Blake Hurst, said he looks forward to having Josh Hawley represent the farmers of Missouri.

“We are looking forward to working with Josh and his campaign seat for the U.S. Senate seat this fall. We think he’ll be an outstanding leader in the senate,” Hurst said.

Hawley said he is honored to take the endorsement.

“Farmers are the pride of our state, they are the backbone of the state, and our way of life, it will be my privilege to fight for them. It will be my privilege to fight for them in this election,” Hawley said.

In the selection today, there was not much debate. It was an 82 to 4 vote in favor of Hawley.

From the start, U.S. Senator, Claire McCaskill, knew it was an uphill battle.

“I had a lot of people explain to me not to come today. Saying ‘why would you waste your time?'” McCaskill said.
