Storm chance Friday leads to a seasonal weekend

TONIGHT: Temperatures will drop into the upper 60s with clear skies and a light southerly breeze under 6 mph.

FRIDAY: The work week ends with hot temperatures as we climb into the low 90s. The humidity will be slightly higher making it feel more like the mid 90s. A weak cold front drifting south will spark some spotty t-storms from mid-afternoon into early evening. These are likely to develop just north of I-70, heading south to near I-44 by 10 PM. Although the air will be very unstable ahead of the front, we will have very little wind shear so severe storms are not expected. A strong storm can’t be ruled out though.

EXTENDED: Storms move out before midnight and we’ll be quiet overnight Friday with lows in the upper 60s. For the weekend, temperatures will drop slightly with highs in the upper 80s under mostly sunny skies. The humidity will stay fairly low this weekend as dew points stay in the lower 60s. Monday looks dry and seasonal but rain chances return Tuesday into Wednesday as an upper level wave of low pressure moves in from the west. Periods of showers and t-storms are possible from Tuesday through early Thursday with temperatures staying in the mid to upper 80s.
