Charges filed in weekend shooting

One person was charged Thursday for allegedly shooting at a home and chasing a vehicle on Gus Court over the weekend.

According to court documents, a woman who lives at the home said one of the suspects Aaniyaha Williams came to the home earlier in the day Sunday, accusing the victim of breaking into her house and stealing property that belonged to Lee Boyd and another suspect, James Hughes.

A victim saw multiple suspects congregating in her back yard and “got a bad feeling,” according to court documents. She then got herself and others in the home in the car to flee the scene, but she told authorities as she was leaving, she heard multiple shots fired.

She also said she was later chased by Boyd’s vehicle, and more shots were fired in her direction.

When officers investigated the scene, they found bullet holes in the wall of the house on Gus Court.

A witness also told police he heard multiple gunshots from the area, and when he looked out his window, he saw Boyd get into his car and leave the scene with another person.

Police found Boyd outside a building on Jamesdale Road on Wednesday. When he was arrested, officers found a baggie of marijuana and cocaine in his pants pocket.

Boyd is charged with first degree assault and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
