Three republicans face off for open representative seat

A three-way race for the republican nomination for Missouri’s 60th district representative will be decided by Cole County voters Tuesday.

The district, which covers most of Jefferson City, is being vacated by term-limited Jay Barnes (R-Jefferson City). After 8 years in office, 38-year-old Barnes is barred by state law from running again.

Jane Beetem, Dave Griffith and Pat Rowe Kerr are the three republicans vying for the office in Tuesday’s primary.

Kevin Nelson and Sara Michael are running for the democratic nomination.

The nominee for each party will face off in the November election.
