Person taken into custody after Callaway County standoff

Callaway County deputies took one person into custody Monday night after an hours-long standoff.

Deputies first responded to a home in the 3000 block of County Road 4006 near Holts Summit around 5:40 p.m. for a report of a suicidal person armed with a gun, according to the sheriff’s office.

The person was threatening to shoot if deputies entered the home. Several additional deputies responded to help.

A team of deputies finally entered the home after a nearly 6 hour standoff surrounding the home. The person was found to be armed and deputies took the person into custody, according to the sheriff’s office.

Callaway County EMS took the person to a local hospital for medial treatment.
