Emergency crews working several crashes on Interstate 70

UPDATE 10:59 A.M.: Mo-DOT reports both westbound lanes of Interstate 70 at the Highway 63 connector are back open.

UPDATE 9:14 A.M.: The Columbia Fire Department reported no one was hurt in the crash on I-70, just west of Highway 63.

Both westbound lanes of the interstate remained closed.

ORIGINAL STORY: Emergency crews are working to clear three crashes from Interstate 70 in mid-Missouri Tuesday morning.

Boone County Joint Communications tweeted out shortly before 8:30 a.m. that both westbound lanes of the interstate were blocked at the Highway 63 Connector.

BOONE CO JOINT COM: Motor Vehicle Collision I70 Westbound at Hwy 63 Connector. Both lanes I70 Westbound blocked. Use caution, avoid area if possible.

An ABC 17 News crew is at the scene, working to find out if any other vehicles were involved and if anyone was hurt in this crash.

According to the department of transportation, a secondary crash also occurred at mile marker 130 around 8:35 a.m.

Boone County Joint Communications reported traffic was backed up in the westbound lanes to the Lake of the Woods exit, just west of Columbia.

Officials recommend drivers avoid I-70 in Columbia between mile markers 129 and 131 for the next hour.

A third crash was reported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on eastbound I-70 in Montgomery County at mile marker 181.8 around 9 a.m.

Troopers said that no one was hurt in the crash but the left lane of traffic was blocked.
