Columbia voters pass water bond

UPDATE: Unofficial results from the Boone County clerk show Columbia voters overwhelmingly passed Proposition 1.

ORIGINAL: Columbia residents voted on Proposition 1 on Tuesday, which is a water bond of $42.845 million for Columbia Water and Light.

If passed, customers would see a rate increase of 11 percent over a 4-year span. By 2022, the average customer would pay an extra $2.71 a month.

The bond funds would go toward water system improvements.

The city said this includes improvements to the City’s water treatment plant. The remaining projects intended to be constructed with the bond funds are shown in the Water Bond Project List, which can be found here.
