Heat and humidity return

TODAY: Another hot and sunny day on tap here in Mid-Missouri. Partly cloudy skies will help us warm up into the middle 90s and with more humid conditions, heat indices will be in the triple digits in some locations. A southerly breeze in the afternoon will try to provide some relief, blowing 8-12 mph.

TONIGHT: The quiet weather pattern continues into the overnight hours. That same southerly breeze will calm a bit, but will keep temperatures from cooling off as much as we could, only dropping to the lower 70s.

EXTENDED: We’ll have one more day of this heat and humidity before relief arrives. Temperatures will push into the middle 90s once again to start the workweek with heat indices in the triple digits. A cold front will continues to makes its way toward the area Monday evening, bringing a chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday evening. Currently looking at a marginal severe threat with plenty of heat and humidity ahead of the front. Showers and thunderstorms continue throughout much of the day on Tuesday before clearing out of the region. Temperatures behind this front return back to more seasonal values through the week.
