Many mid-Missouri cities not participating in back-to-school tax free weekend

Many large and small mid-Missouri cities are not participating in the back-to-school tax free weekend.

Columbia, Jefferson City, Ashland, Moberly and Holts Summit will still collect sales tax. For a list of more cities not participating in the tax free weekend, click here.

The sales tax holiday runs Friday, Aug 3 and continues to Sunday, Aug 5. Some back-to-school items such as clothing, school supplies, computers, and other items are exempt from sales tax.

Clothing cannot cost more than $100 and personal computers cannot exceed $1500. The state offers a list of purchase cost limits and information for tax free weekend.
