One person in custody, one on the run after Boone County chase

One person is still on the run and another is in custody after a chase in Boone County late Thursday night.

It started around 11:50 p.m. Thursday when a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop near St. Charles Road on Demaret Drive and Lema Drive. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver led deputies on a chase, which eventually ended near Oakland Gravel Road on Heying Drive. The driver fled the area and is still at large.

Columbia police officers and troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted deputies on the search.

One person was taken into custody for multiple outstanding warrants, the sheriff’s department said, but not in relation to the chase.

Deputies say they know who the driver is but can’t release his name at this time.
