MU med school sees fewer students

The MU School of Medicine introduced the class of 2022 during a White Coat Ceremony Friday afternoon. Students were given their first white coats at the ceremony, marking their first steps toward becoming physicians.

The ceremony was held at Jesse Hell for the class of 112 students. The MU School of Medicine said it received 2,671 applications for the class of 2022, marking the highest number of applications received by the school. Last year, they took in 128 students.

Of this class, 34 percent of students self-identified as an ethnic minority, officials said. According to the school, this includes students who are Asian, black, Latino, American Indian or Pacific Islander.
