Unsettled for parts of Mid-MO this afternoon, Clearing out by Wednesday

THIS AFTERNOON: Showers and thunderstorms have setup shop across southern portions of Mid-Missouri. Expect these spot showers and storms to continue through the afternoon, with the best chances of seeing widespread rains sticking close to I-44. Temperatures will rise into the 80s for places that don’t see the rain, and stick in the 70s for places that do.

TONIGHT: Skies will clear out with winds out of the north up to 5 mph. This will allow low temperatures to drop towards 60 by daybreak, making for a cool, but comfortable start to the day.

EXTENDED: High pressure aloft will build over the area for the rest of the week, bringing back summer heat and humidity. Wednesday will feel more like late July with mostly sunny and seasonal temperatures, reaching the upper 80s. By the end of the work week, temperatures will top out near 90 with nights dropping into the upper 60s.The humidity doesn’t look as high as what we’ve had in weeks past, but heat indices will return into the mid 90s with slightly humid conditions. Heading into the weekend, it will be typical for the start of August with highs near 90 and nights near 70. We remain dry through the rest of the 7 day forecast.
