Cloudy and mild, with scattered storms through the day

TODAY: The trend of comfortable mornings continues today, with temperatures hovering in the lower 60s. We’ll see increasing clouds through the day marking the start of what will be a stormy pattern for the next several days. Outside of some light rain showers for the morning, most areas will stay dry. We’ll see a better chance for scattered showers and storms through the day, but there will be more dry time than wet. Temperatures climb into the upper 70s and lower 80s depending on cloud coverage and who sees rain.

TONIGHT: The first part of the night will be dry, but we’ll begin to see increasing storms from the west. This will set the stage for what will be a wet Sunday across Mid-Missouri. Even with the clouds in place, temperatures tonight should still remain comfortable near 65 degrees. No severe weather is expected with any of the storms we see, but can’t rule out a strong storm or two.

EXTENDED: There is a better chance of rain Sunday as a storm system passes through southern Missouri. A few showers are possible Sunday morning mainly north of I-70 with scattered showers and storms spreading south Sunday afternoon. Severe storms are not expected. Temperatures will stay mild Sunday with high temperatures only reaching the upper 70s. Next week starts off with a chance of rain Monday and Tuesday as temperatures stay below average, reaching near 80 Monday. By Monday morning, we could see rainfall amounts anywhere form .75″ – 1.25″ spread across Mid-Missouri. It’s likely we could see even higher totals as we head into the middle of the week. Despite the rain, the drought will still remain in place, as 7-10 inches of rain is needed to alleviate our drought. Temperatures slowly warm through next week as the upper level low pressure area moves off to the east and the upper level ridge builds back in, bringing back summer-like heat by the end of the week.
