137 live animals seized in Fulton, 6 animals found deceased

The Fulton Animal Control and the Fulton Police Department executed a search warrant and seized 137 live animals.

Melissa Baxter, 50, from Fulton, currently has charges pending for housing these animals in the 600 block of Grand Avenue.

Fulton Police Chief Steve Meyer said Baxter will be appearing before a judge Aug. 3.

The following is a list of all the animals seized:

6 cockatiel and parakeets

5 hedge hogs

1 guinea pig

1 box turtle

1 hamster

8 dogs

57 quail

41 chickens

7 ducks

1 turken

2 lambs

5 pigeons

1 bearded dragon and 1 red tail boa

In addition to the 137 live animals, law enforcement said there were four deceased rabbits and two deceased chickens which were removed from the residence as well.

The animals are now being cared for Grabb Animal Shelter in Fulton.

Caretakers of the animal shelter told ABC 17 News the animals are doing well but are currently being evaluated for any medical conditions.

Meyers said because an investigation is ongoing, limited information can be released.
