Tractor driver dies after truck tries to pass in Pettis County, troopers say

A tractor driver in Pettis County died after getting hit by a truck Saturday afternoon, according to online Missouri State Highway Patrol traffic reports.

The report said Lyle McMilin, 62, of Cole Camp, was driving a tractor north on Highway 65 near Route V when the crash occurred.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., Richard Long, 70, of Lincoln, Mo. was also driving north on Highway 65 and tried to pass McMilin, but instead hit McMilin’s tractor and caused him to fly off the tractor, according to the report.

The report said after Long hit the tractor, he struck McMilin.

McMilin was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pettis County coroner.
