Gov. Parson meets with survivors, first responders from Table Rock Lake tragedy
ABC 17 News spoke with Gov. Mike Parson in Branson Friday afternoon. Parson traveled to the city to meet with survivors, family of the victims, rescuers and first responders after a duck boat sank on Table Rock Lake.
Parson called Thursday night a tragedy and said everyone should work together to support the victims and their families.
“The courageous efforts of emergency responders and civilian rescuers helped avert an even worse tragedy, as people rushed to help in extremely dangerous conditions,” Parson said. “I was inspired by the stories I heard from some of those who were part of the rescue effort and tremendously encouraged by the strength of the family members of victims I met with today. We pray for all those who were affected by this terrible tragedy.”
Parson also met with the Stone County sheriff and went to the Cox Medical Center Branson to meet with survivors.
Parson also pledged the support of all state resources necessary to assist with the investigation, which is being led by the National Transportation Safety Board and the U.S. Coast Guard.
