Crews respond to lightning strike in Mexico

The Mexico Department of Public Safety responded to a tree struck by lightning Thursday morning.

The department said it happened around 10:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Garfield Avenue.

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, crews arrived on scene to find the strike had followed the cable lines to a nearby building, causing some damage.

The department said fire was not found in the tree or nearby buildings and that no one was injured. However, the power was shut off to the buildings until an electrician could confirm the wiring was safe.
