Two dead following crash on Highway 5 in Camden County
UPDATE 4:12 P.M.: According to a crash report released by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cassandra L. Reed, 22, of Lebanon, lost control of her 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, crossed the center of Highway 5 and hit Dolores E. Bernard, 86, of Essexville, Michigan head-on around 8:58 a.m. Wednesday.
Reed and Bernard were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Troopers said Reed wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
Bernand’s passenger, Cheryl D. DeWald, 57, of Caro, Michigan, was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
These are Troop F’s 7th and 8th and fatalities for July, and 37th and 38th fatalities for 2018.
UPDATE 1:48 P.M.: The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported two people were killed, one in each car, in the crash on Highway 5 in Camden County Wednesday morning.
A third person was taken to the hospital. Their condition hasn’t been released.
Troopers said one of the vehicles crossed the centerline of the highway.
The highway patrol is waiting to release the names of the victims until it finishes notifying the families.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed troopers are working a serious a crash in Camden County Wednesday morning.
Investigators told ABC 17 News that the crash involved at least two vehicles in the area of Highway 5 and Dry Hollow Road, about 7 miles south of Camdenton.
MoDOT reports Highway 5 is closed in both directions between Dry Hollow and Highway 7.

Troopers couldn’t confirm the number of people involved in this crash or the severity of their injuries.
The patrol’s Major Crash Investigation Unit is on its way to this crash.
