State official deploys to Hawaii
On Wednesday state leaders confirmed SEMA’s Chief of Operations, Terry Cassil, will head to Hawaii as part of the recovery from April storms.
Honolulu and Kaua’i County are still working on damage from this spring’s severe weather, which includes flooding, landslides, and mudslides.
The new announcement was made after Gov. Parson met with State Emergency Management Agency Director, Ernie Rhodes, and the Missouri Department of Public Safety Director, Drew Juden on Wednesday morning.
Cassil will report as a Safety Officer this Friday before returning home in two weeks on Thursday, August 2.
Cassil has served as a member of Missouri Task Force-1, the national search and rescue team based near Columbia in Boone County. This new deployment is assigned through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), which helps its member states share resources, knowledge and experience through the national mutual aid system.
