Lingering storms tonight, with heat and storms returning into Thursday
TONIGHT: Isolated showers and storms are possible into the evening, with partly cloudy skies remaining in place. We’ll see temperatures bottom our near 70 degrees tonight with a comfortable easterly breeze up to 11 mph. A better chance of showers and storms will arrive for the morning commute Thursday, as a complex of thunderstorms drifts southeast out of Nebraska.
THURSDAY: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely into the morning hours, mainly along and north of I-70. Any storms will gradually shift to the east through the day, as an associated low pressure system tracks to our north. Despite the storms and clouds in place, it will be a hot and humid day across Mid-Missouri, with an additional round of storms likely into the afternoon hours. Any storms that form through the afternoon could bring the threat for damaging winds and large hail. Temperatures will top out in the upper 80s and lower 90s, with heat indices near 100 degrees. Heat advisories will go into effect for parts of Mid-Missouri tomorrow at noon and last until 8 PM. If you are going to be outside remember to exercise caution.
EXTENDED: A cold front will move through Friday, giving us a chance of morning storms, but afternoon dry time. Winds will shift to the north behind this front, ushering in cooler, drier air and giving us a nice start to the weekend. The upcoming weekend looks mostly sunny with highs in the upper 80s to near 90 and nights in the upper 60s. As we head into next week, the pattern looks to remain fairly quiet and seasonal. Afternoon highs will top out near 90 everyday, with overnight lows in the upper 60s. Check back with ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and updates throughout the week.
