Volunteers searching for missing man disband for the night
UPDATE: The voluntary search party formed earlier this evening has called off searches for the night.
ABC 17 News will check back with them in the morning to find out if they plan to continue.
Law enforcement has said the area has been gone through pretty thoroughly already, but searchers had hoped a few fresh sets of eyes could make a different.
Now they are asking individual property owners to take a look at their land to see if Kinman might be there.
ORIGINAL STORY: According to the family of 74-year-old Jerry Kinman, the search efforts for him will not stop.
Family members wish to thank all those who have been helping in the search.
Kay Woodbury, Kinman’s daughter, told ABC 17 News she is keeping hope alive.
“I want to thank the entire community that has reached out and especially law enforcement and the Conservation department for all their efforts, but let’s keep searching for my dad,” Kay Woodbury said.
Family members did not want to go on camera, but provided ABC 17 News a flyer and asked the community not to give up on Kinman.
Kinman’s son-in-law Jack Woodbury said he’s having a hard time holding back his tears.
“I would like to say thanks to the community and all those involved, as Kay said, and I really want people to know we are not giving up,” said Jack Woodbury.
According to Jack Woodbury, Kinman is a retired Baptist minister from Arizona for 40 plus years.
Laurie Gannan, a close friend of the family, is asking the community to share the flyer and to keep their eyes open for Kinman.
According to Gannan and Kay Woodbury, Kinman contacted his wife Saturday morning around 3:50 a.m. and told her he needed help.
“He told my mother over the phone, ‘I am near the lake, I’ve fallen, I’ve gone through two storms and need help,'” Kay Woodbury said.
Sheriff officials tell ABC 17 News they are continuing search efforts and ask the community to be safe and stay on designated paths should they help with the search.
Organizers in the search efforts have created a Facebook page for finding Kinman. It can be found
