Parts of Centralia under boil water advisory

A boil water advisory went into effect Thursday morning for parts of Centralia.

According to a statement on the city’s website, the advisory is not citywide and was issued for city of Centralia customers in the following areas:

N. Rollins Street from Highway 22 to Wigham Street. Wigham Street. 700 block of North Allen to Green Gables. Green Gables. Fairgrounds from Hickman to Highway 151.

The city said the advisory is in effect until 11 a.m. Saturday. A water valve was scheduled to be replaced on N. Rollins Street on Thursday. The city said it would disinfect all new material put in place and flush the mains for the next two days.

Affected customers are encouraged to boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use for cooking, drinking or brushing teeth.

The city said anyone with specific questions can call City Hall at 573-682-2139.
