Missouri Department of Corrections addresses “false reports”

The Missouri Department of Corrections addressed what it called false reports of a situation at the Tipton Correctional Center Thursday night.

ABC 17 News received calls and messages from viewers Thursday night, but according to a post on the Missouri Department of Corrections Facebook page from 8:30 p.m., everyone is safe.

“We have heard false reports of a situation at Tipton Correctional Center. Please be assured that these rumors are inaccurate. The facility is secure. Staff and offenders are safe,” the post read.

This comes after a disturbance was reported last week. As of Monday, the Tipton Correctional Center was still on a modified lockdown.
