Jefferson City man sentenced to 20 years in jail after domestic assault
A Jefferson City man was sentenced to 20 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to first-degree domestic assault, resisting arrest, attempted disarming of a police officer and fourth-degree assault, according to an official release.
William E. Bagby, III pled guilty to a domestic assault on May 17, 2017 in Jefferson City at the Runge Nature Trail.
During the assault, Bagby strangled his victim, which caused the victim serious physical injury and strokes.
While being arrested for the domestic assault, Bagby charged at Sgt. Stieferman and attempted to take his duty pistol, according to the release.
The release also states the court made a finding that Bagby was a prior and persistent felony offender as well as a persistent assault offender.
