Little relief from the heat in sight
WEDNESDAY: A weak cold front will drop south, bringing humidity down only slightly. It will be hot with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s under mostly sunny skies and east winds up to 8 mph. Heat indices will reach 98-104. Areas east of I-70 will feel a tad cooler through the day due to easterly flow.
TONIGHT: Tonight will cool just a tad more than previous nights as overnight lows drop towards 70, with a few areas bottoming out in the upper 60s. We will see clear skies with a light wind out of the east up to 7 mph.
EXTENDED: The heat wave continues through the weekend with highs in the mid to upper 90s and heat indices 100-105. Our next chance of storms arrives Saturday afternoon with scattered showers and storms possible. The heat and humidity continue through the weekend but as a cold front moves south Sunday into Monday, we’ll pick up a better chance of storms and temperatures will cool down a bit, to near 90 Monday and upper 80s Tuesday.
